Créée en 2006 et légalisée en Août 2007, l’association Horizon Jeune est un regroupement citoyen des jeunes qui vise la promotion d’une jeunesse saine et responsable, qui prend en main son propre développement. A cet effet, elle s’est donnée pour mission de renforcer le leadership des jeunes pour accentuer leur participation à la résolution des problèmes qui les concernent et relever les défis qui les interpellent. Il s’agit entre autres de la Santé de reproduction, de la lutte contre les violences basées sur le genre, la participation citoyenne et éducation au développement durable, etc. Ces trois défis constituent les axes majeurs de ses interventions axées autour des valeurs telles que les droits humains, le genre, le leadership constructif et la justice sociale.

Le siège social de l’association Horizon Jeune est fixé à Dschang dans la Région de l’Ouest du Cameroun.

Les valeurs qui gouvernent nos actions sont :

 Et  les objectifs poursuivis par Horizon Jeune sont les suivants :

  • Promouvoir le changement de comportement et l’adoption des attitudes responsables chez les jeunes
  • Conseiller et assister les jeunes dans le cadre de la santé en général et la santé reproductive et sexuelle en particulier
  • Favoriser l’expression de la jeunesse en vue de son implication effective aux problèmes qui la concerne
  • Renforcer les capacités des jeunes en vue de la paire éducation pour la réduction de leur vulnérabilité face aux IST/VIH & sida et autres problèmes
  • Développer l’esprit de créativité chez les jeunes et participer à la protection de l’environnement
  • Participer aux activités de plaidoyer pour la mise en place des structures d’expression de la jeunesse
  • Amener les jeunes à s’impliquer dans la promotion des droits humains, de la paix et du genre etc

Created since 2006 by a group of motivated and vision-oriented youth, HORIZON JEUNE is a community youth-led organization which principal aim is to promote the development of a healthy and responsible generation of young people, capable of efficiently handling issues pertaining to their own future.

Our mission is to reinforce youth leadership and participation to better address the challenges they face in relation to issues like sexual and reproductive health and rights; gender based violence; and civic participation and education to sustainable development which represent the core areas of intervention of the organization. To achieve this mission, Horizon Jeune is permanently engaged in a wide range of activities centered on Community mobilization and sensitization; Advocacy; and Capacity building with youth and adolescents as main target group.

The organization is currently working to implement the national youth and adolescent development program initiated by the Cameroon’s government within its cooperation with UNICEF which aim is to offer comprehensive SRHR services to youth and adolescent nationwide and reduce their vulnerability to STIs/HIV/AIDS and other problems they are facing. One important program also implemented by Horizon Jeune is the Africa Unite Campaign to end violence against women and girls initiated by the UN Secretary General Ban ki Moon. In this line, we regularly implement the 16 Days of activism to end violence against women and girls.

The office of Horizon Jeune, including its youth-friendly center is located in Dschang.

In its work to advance youth development, Horizon Jeune seeks to reach the following objectives:

  • Promote the change of behaviors and the adoption of responsible attitudes amongst youth
  • Offer proper counselling to youth on their health with emphasis on sexual and reproductive health
  • Strengthen youth capacities and skills in peer education to help reduce their vulnerability to STIs/HIV/AIDS
  • Develop youth creativity
  • Encourage youth engagement in the promotion of human rights.
